Lifelong Port Angeles resident Jenny Lynn Young died from complications of diabetes. She was 53. The daughter of Don R. and Roma A. (Johnston) Young, she became a registered nurse who worked at Olympic Medical Center. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Joseph R. and Cassie M. Beaudry of Snoqualmie; daughter Katie L. McKnight of Bellingham; father and stepmother Janet Young of Port Angeles. sisters and brothers-in-law Lisa and Brad McGarvie of Rochester, Tanya and Derek Thompson of Joyce; stepbrother Robert Fowler of Port Angeles; stepsister Terri Fowler of Greenville, Mo. She was preceded by mother, sister Cindy Willis, and stepbrother Shane Fowler.

Katie and I decided to hold off on a service until after Katie graduated from Western. My mom would have wanted her to focus on school and finish strong, so that is what Katie did. I am happy to report Katie graduated last weekend! We are now ready to move forward with the service.
We are holding a very casual celebration of life for Jenny. This will be a time to come together, share stories, talk to one another, and have some food and drink.
We are holding the service at the Elks Lodge on 1st St (address below) from 4PM - 6PM on Saturday June 27. We will be in the upstairs lounge area. The event will be a potluck, so if there is a dish you want to bring please let me know. I ask that everybody who does want to bring food please email me first to make sure we don't end up with a large amount of wasted food. The Elks will be providing a bar service for the drinks (water, soda, beer, cocktails, etc.).
Of course, kids are welcome! It will be in the lounge but there will be a section roped off where it is adults only for those who want to have a drink.
Also, we will have a "memory box" on one of the tables. We invite you all to write a little note about Jenny and toss it in the box. It could be anything you feel like sharing. We will provide pens and paper next to the box, but if you want to prepare something ahead of time that might be a good idea too. Katie and I will use the notes and stories you share to create a sort of scrap-book to look back on in later years.
